The Power of Gesture and Glance – Working with Horses
The reason the horse can become such a gifted teacher for us is because he does not need an inner voice. He doesn’t think with words at all. He feels. He experiences the simple energy of his and others’ emotional state of being. For more than 30 million years evolution has turned the horse in to the quintessential prey animal. Rather than using words or vocalizations to communicate, horses learned instead how not to talk or make sounds but make sense from being.
Horses infuse emotional energy into every body movement. They pour this vital, emotional energy -chi- into every gesture and glance.
Horses are soothing, gentle animals. They are straightforward in their interactions without lying or manipulating. They do not judge or blame. They are able to mirror our emotions, thoughts and processes just by observing us. Their presence alone can be immensely healing.
Heroes of Freedom Farm’s Equine Assisted Activities provide a safe environment for this interaction. All activities are unmounted and supervised.
